At Travel Twist Biologist, I integrate ArcGIS mapping tools with high-resolution habitat data and the most up-to-date base map sources to evaluate potential wildlife habitat before heading into the field. This GIS-based pre-field analysis helps streamline project planning by identifying likely habitat zones early—saving time, reducing costs, and increasing survey efficiency.
Once target areas are mapped, I conduct detailed field evaluations to confirm habitat presence, assess site conditions, and document ecological features. With years of field experience and a practical, science-driven approach, I provide assessments that are targeted, defensible, and aligned with environmental regulations.

Permitted Avian Presence/Absence & Habitat Surveys
At Travel Twist Biologist, I provide habitat assessments and presence/absence surveys for the federally listed Golden-cheeked Warbler (Setophaga chrysoparia) and Black-capped Vireo (Vireo atricapilla) following U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) protocols.
Habitat determinations are typically completed in a single site visit and can be scheduled year-round. If suitable habitat is present, I conduct focused presence/absence surveys during the breeding season (generally March through May). These surveys involve five visits per season for up to three years, unless presence is confirmed earlier. All surveys involve walking transects with both visual and auditory detection methods.
I hold a USFWS 10(a)(1)(A) recovery permit authorizing work with these species and have extensive experience surveying hundreds of acres across Central Texas. My work supports regulatory compliance while maintaining scientific integrity.
