Recording plan & deployment
Agreed monitoring questions, recorder locations, recording schedules, and a field deployment and retrieval plan.
Wildlife acoustic monitoring
Autonomous recording units (ARUs) capture sound on a planned schedule. Use them to support bird research and document vocal activity across your project area.
Free initial consultation. Your quote confirms the scope, deliverables, timing, and fee.
What you receive
Choose the pieces your team needs. We agree on what’s included before work begins.
Agreed monitoring questions, recorder locations, recording schedules, and a field deployment and retrieval plan.
Recording files matched to device IDs, dates, locations, and deployment notes, delivered in the agreed folder structure and format.
A scoped audio and spectrogram review, documented detections or observations, and a summary of the methods, effort, and limitations.
How it starts
Tell me what you need to learn, the target species or sounds, project area, recording period, and any equipment or recordings you already have. We agree on deployment effort, review coverage, deliverables, and cost before collecting or analyzing data.
Scope my acoustic monitoringAn autonomous recording unit is a weather-resistant device that records sound according to a programmed schedule. It lets a project collect recordings at selected locations and times without a biologist standing beside every device.
Potentially, when the species, study question, method, and project authorizations fit. Acoustic monitoring does not automatically replace a required survey protocol or establish that an undetected species is absent. The appropriate method is confirmed before work begins.
Existing audio can be scoped for organization and biological review. Send the recording dates, device information, file volume, target question, and available deployment notes so the review effort can be defined.
Kaleidoscope and other agreed tools can help organize, view, and review recordings. Automated matches require biological review; the report describes which files or samples were reviewed and how detections were assessed.
Equipment supply or rental, batteries and storage, travel, deployment length, retrieval visits, and the amount of audio reviewed are specified in the quote. They are not assumed to be unlimited or included in a fixed package.

Send your project goal, location, and target schedule.
