Who is responsible

This website is owned and operated by Travel Twist Biologist LLC, an independent environmental consulting practice. Elizabeth Hingle is the data controller and the person who actually reads what you send. Questions about anything here go to elizabeth@traveltwistbiologist.com.

The Biologist Tool Dashboard (dashboard.traveltwistbiologist.com), where accounts, purchases and field tools live, has its own Dashboard Privacy Policy.

Information collected

When you submit the enquiry form, the following is recorded: the inquiry type you choose; your name and email address; any optional phone number and role description you provide; the service you are asking about; for Golden-cheeked Warbler enquiries, the county and any approximate acreage you provide; any project location you choose to share; your description of the project and preferred start timing; and any additional notes you write. Your IP address and the time of submission are recorded alongside it. If you attach files, such as maps, photos, or reports, they are saved on the web server outside the public web directory, where they cannot be reached from the internet, and emailed to Elizabeth’s business address with your enquiry.

Website analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages visitors use, how they find the site, and whether they click a consultation, email, or phone link. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes information such as page visits, browser and device information, referral sources, and approximate geographic location.

Analytics is configured without advertising personalization. Inquiry-form answers, names, email addresses, phone numbers, and project locations are not sent as analytics event data. Page addresses and referrer addresses are stripped of query strings and fragments before being supplied to Analytics.

Google processes analytics information under its own policies. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. This site's analytics loader also respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals.

Booking a call

The consultation calendar on this website (on the contact page and in the pop-up on the homepage) is provided by Calendly, a third-party scheduling service. When you schedule a call, Calendly collects the information you enter, such as your name, email address, the time you choose, and any answers to the booking questions, and shares it with Elizabeth so she can prepare for and hold the call. If the call is held by video, the meeting link may be created through a video service such as Zoom.

Calendly uses cookies to run the calendar and processes your booking under its own terms. Read Calendly’s privacy notice. If you’d rather not use Calendly, you can use the written enquiry form or email Elizabeth directly.

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives a request from your browser in order to serve them. Website hosting and email services also involve service providers. External links take you to services with their own privacy policies.

Property and project locations

Coordinates and parcel details are commercially and personally sensitive. They can identify a landowner, reveal a project before it is public, and in the case of protected species, indicate where sensitive habitat sits. The enquiry form therefore makes location optional, and includes an explicit option to withhold it until we have spoken.

Location information you send is used to assess your enquiry and is not published, listed, or passed to anyone outside the project. Where survey findings must be reported to a regulatory agency under the terms of a federal permit, that reporting obligation is explained to you before any fieldwork begins — it is a condition of the permit, not a discretionary disclosure.

Storage, sharing, and retention

Submissions are written to a log file on the web server, stored outside the public web directory so it is not reachable from the internet, and emailed to my own business address. Contact Elizabeth before sending sensitive project records if you need to agree on a particular transfer method.

Enquiries that do not become projects are deleted within two years. Enquiries that do become projects are retained with the project records for as long as professional and permit-related obligations require, which for federally permitted survey work can be several years.

Your information is not sold, rented, or shared for marketing. It is disclosed only where the law requires it, or where a subcontractor is working directly on your project — for example a GIS specialist preparing your maps — and only the part of it they need.

Your choices

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email the address below and I will action it, or explain plainly if a permit-related record keeping obligation prevents deletion.

Texas residents, and residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws, may have additional statutory rights. Rather than list them selectively, the practical position is simpler: ask, and I will do it wherever I am permitted to.

You can also choose not to use the form. Contact me directly at elizabeth@traveltwistbiologist.com, and an enquiry sent by email is answered the same way.

Policy updates and contact

Any material change will be reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change affects how existing enquiry information is used, I will contact affected people directly rather than rely on you noticing a date.
