Construction & Listed-Species Monitoring
A biologist on site while the work happens: clearing ahead of crews, monitoring during construction and documenting compliance with your biological opinion, permits and mitigation plan. Available nationwide.

Wildlife biologist · Construction monitoring nationwide
- Desert tortoise monitoring on a major transmission line project in Nevada
- Seven-plus years directing avian compliance on infrastructure and energy projects nationwide
- Biological surveys since 2013
What I do on site
Monitoring is scoped to your project’s conditions. Typical work includes:
- Pre-activity clearance surveys. Walking the work area ahead of crews and equipment, and documenting what was found before work starts.
- Daily monitoring. On site during ground disturbance, vegetation removal and equipment moves, watching for listed species and active nests.
- Following your conditions. Applying the biological opinion, permit and mitigation-plan measures as written, and flagging any issue to the project lead right away.
- Crew awareness. Worker environmental awareness briefings, so crews know what to look for and who to call.
- Nests and buffers. Nest checks, buffers and rechecks when birds are nesting near the work.
Where this comes up
Transmission and pipeline corridors, solar and wind projects, road and utility work, and any project with a biological opinion, incidental take coverage, or permit conditions that call for a qualified biologist on site.

Built-in field tools
A project app for your crew
I can turn a long biological opinion and the worker training into an app crews carry on their phones: rules, contacts, monitor tasks and a refresher course. See the Tool Dashboard →
Quoted per project
Your written estimate is built from the schedule, work hours, crew size, reporting and travel, with a not-to-exceed maximum before any work begins. Travel, lodging and per diem are quoted from my nearest base.
Common questions
What should I send to get a quote?
The project footprint or a map, the construction schedule, crew size and work hours, the biological opinion, permit or mitigation plan conditions that apply, and any species already documented on site.
Do you work as a subcontractor?
Yes. Most of my monitoring work is as a subcontractor to environmental consulting firms. I follow your project’s procedures, reporting formats and chain of communication.
Where do you work?
Nationwide. Travel, lodging and per diem are quoted per project, from my nearest base.
Can you train the crew?
Yes. I can deliver worker environmental awareness training, and for larger projects I can turn your biological opinion and permit conditions into a project app crews carry on their phones.
